...Founded in 1209, Mutriku is the village with one of the best preserved old quarters. In the village, where town planning is adapted to the hill and directed towards the harbour, towers and mansions mix with the typical architecture. Its streets and corners suggest the greatness of memorable times: whale hunting, good scientists and seamen such as Gaztañeta and Churruca, beautiful coat of arms, churches with wonderful paintings, city walls…

...From the mountain called Arno to the secluded beaches and cliffs, the visitor can enjoy the beauty and the activities that the natural environment offers. Moreover, the rural houses and campsites allow one to stay in attractive surroundings. The large beach of Saturraran, the small and lonely secluded beaches of Mutriku and the natural pool are privileged places for sun and see lovers.
For those who enjoy walking in the mountains and valleys Mutriku offers itineraries full of history and legends. It is worth mentioning the quarters of Olatz and Astigarribia since they are as beautiful as they are unknown. The latter one is on the way of the Saint James route and there is a church called San Andres, one of the oldest churches of Gipuzkoa ( 11th century ).

...Those who wish to enjoy the nature in an active way have a wide range of possibilities: scuba-diving, canoeing, jet ski, mountain-bike, "capeas"…

...Mutriku is a peaceful village. This quietness is appreciated by both residents and foreigners, who take advantage of it to go for a walk, to enjoy the pubs and to taste popular local dishes. During the "fiestas" and cultural activities the streets become bustling.
From the celebrations of San Juan summer celebrations (fiestas) come one after the other: the feast day of San Pedro, the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene patron of Mutriku, the cultural programme of August, the feast day held in honour of the Holy Christ of Calvary in September…
Music, folklore, rural sports, ambience for all tastes. During the year, other successful celebrations take place: In April the Fiesta of verdel to promote this delicious fish in a festive atmosphere, Gaba Beltza, a fiesta deeprooted in the traditions of Halloween, Antzerkiaz Blai, meeting of the Basque amateur theatre and in December the fair of Saint Thomas, where a great variety of products of the farms are shown.
