is located on the west coast of Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous
community of the autonomous community of the Basque Country.
It borders on the villages of Berriatua and Ondarroa in the
west, on Marquina in the south west, on Deba in the east and
on Mendaro in the south. |

...Founded in 1209, Mutriku
is the village with one of the best preserved old quarters.
In the village, where town planning is adapted to the hill
and directed towards the harbour, towers and mansions mix
with the typical architecture. Its streets and corners suggest
the greatness of memorable times: whale hunting, good scientists
and seamen such as Gaztañeta and Churruca, beautiful
coat of arms, churches with wonderful paintings, city walls

Arno to the secluded beaches and cliffs, the visitor can enjoy
the beauty and the activities that the natural environment
offers. Moreover, the rural houses and campsites allow one
to stay in attractive surroundings. The large beach of Saturraran,
the small and lonely secluded beaches of Mutriku and the natural
pool are privileged places for sun and see lovers.
For those who enjoy walking in the mountains and valleys Mutriku
offers itineraries full of history and legends. It is worth
mentioning the quarters of Olatz and Astigarribia since they
are as beautiful as they are unknown. The latter one is on
the way of the Saint James route and there is a church called
San Andres, one of the oldest churches of Gipuzkoa ( 11th
century ).

...Mutriku
is a peaceful village. This quietness is appreciated by both
residents and foreigners, who take advantage of it to go for
a walk, to enjoy the pubs and to taste popular local dishes.
During the "fiestas" and cultural activities the
streets become bustling.
From the celebrations of San Juan summer celebrations (fiestas)
come one after the other: the feast day of San Pedro, the
feast day of St. Mary Magdalene patron of Mutriku, the cultural
programme of August, the feast day held in honour of the Holy
Christ of Calvary in September
Music, folklore, rural sports, ambience for all tastes. During
the year, other successful celebrations take place: In April
the Fiesta of verdel to promote this delicious fish in a festive
atmosphere, Gaba Beltza, a fiesta deeprooted in the traditions
of Halloween, Antzerkiaz Blai, meeting of the Basque amateur
theatre and in December the fair of Saint Thomas, where a
great variety of products of the farms are shown.
